Speak It: The Future of APNF
According to my production schedule, Sunday afternoons are when I supposed to sketch & ink upcoming episodes of A Pug Named Fender (APNF). I’ve been brainstorming ideas for more guest appearances and enhancing the storyline.
I’m also very excited about APNF becoming an animated cartoon. Thinking about the intro soundtrack, online/social media marketing campaign and voice overs gives me goosebumps. Here’s my dream for the APNF animated series:
The Soundtrack
When I think of the musical vibe of APNF — a celebration of soul, hip hop and electronica — two (2) producers come to mind off the top:
Todd Kelley aka The Big La – an über-talented hip hop producer whose West Coast, mellow productions always set the tone.
Obsidian Blue – his sound is very ethereal and easily transports your mind & soul away from the stresses of this universe.
I wonder which one would be open to shredding a sample of Hug a Pug for the APNF intro? Heh.
The Voiceovers
This is my dream list of artists I want to do the voice acting for the APNF animated series. I believe that APNF will be to soul music what the Boondocks have been to hip hop and this list of dynamic performers would accomplish that feat:
Phonte as A Pug Named Fender – This would be all types of WIN.
Fave as Clyde – I could pull it off.
Will Dawson as Drew – This cat is all about the witty sarcasm, and so is Drew.
Yvette N. Brown as Baby – My favorite Community actress would be perfect for this role.
Lalah Hathaway as Lolah Hardaway – Do I really gotta explain this one?
–
I’m believing and praying that APNF will continue to celebrate the music and artists I love while bringing my childhood dream of becoming a cartoonist full circle.
Until next time.
