Last night I rehearsed with my band for the first time in months. With the return of our (previous) drummer and the addition of a (new) lead guitarist, I was able to pick up the new tunes on the keys without incident. We jammed for about a half hour before we got into our “covers” including:
These are great covers to play; however, I sing as well as play during these selections. The Stevie joints were more challenging than normal and by the time I got to “Come Together,” I was cracking. . .badly.
Needless to say, I can no longer jump into a song cold and expect to sound good. I really needed to warm up. After meeting a voice trainer at Podcamp Houston, it has become more evident that I need her expertise if I am to perform onstage with increased confidence.
On a high(er) note, it felt really good to play with my buddies for the first time since March. I really need to get back on that. Meanwhile, I have a work day to move through + a workout appointment at the gym + family time + favecasting to complete. . .and that’s just today.
Until next time
